The purpose and mission of the West Point Fire Department is the protection of life and property, and the prevention of and extinguishment of, when they occur, all fires; and Emergency Medical Incidents.

 

The West Point Fire Department will respond to all fires on a first call basis within the city limits of West Point. The department will respond on a mutual aid call to any department that they can be of assistance to, when the call falls into the expertise of the West Point Fire Department.

The West Point Fire Department will respond to, but is not limited to the following types of incidents:  structure fires, vehicle fires, brush fires, rubbish fires, commercial fires, any incident where a threat or danger of fire exist, auto extrications, assist with medical aid runs, mutual aid calls, flood and tornadoes, and terrorist threats.

The West Point Fire Department shall respond to Hazardous Material Incidents as to OSHA 1910-120, which took effect March 6, 1990. The West Point Fire Department will respond to these incidents at the FIRST RESPONDER AWARENESS LEVEL.

The West Point Fire Department maintains a twenty-two man volunteer crew.
